Harris Teeter - Produce Review from Chicago, Illinois
Harris Teeter Sanitary Conditions Review from Gastonia, North Carolina
Walking into the Harris Teeter store in Fayetteville,NC seemed to be a pleasant enough shopping experience to start off with : The store seemed clean but not set up to be efficient to maneuver around in. My wife and I enjoyed the floral design BUT the rest of the store was questionable.
I realize that clearance produce won't exactly win any prizes at the county fair but to put product out that has mold on it? Not good. Do the women in the deli wear acrylic nails? Perhaps I saw wrong and certainly hope I did.
And ALL the females hair should be secured under hair nets, regardless whether or not one has just had purchased hair or actually it's their own. I have doubts about this stores future longevity with poor hygiene standards as they seem.
To whom it may concern
To whom it may concern,
I currently live in Iowa, but I recently visited family in Virginia. More importantly, I had the pleasure of shopping at your store located in Manassas. I must say, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the store. Unfortunately, this is not a complimentary letter.
During my visit, about three weeks ago, I regrettably witnessed something I hadn’t seen since the fourth grade. After making my purchase, I decided to try my hand at the Virginia Lottery. As I was making my way to the machines, I noticed the machines being serviced by a manager, and what I think was a trainee. What happened next, I have to say, was the worst case of bullying and belittling ever. The manager was speaking so harshly, to the trainee, I felt so bad for her. The manager made comments like “ What are you doing ?” and “ Don’t you pay attention ?”. Finally nudging her way past her and saying “ You’re taking too long !” As they finished up and were walking away, the manager said loudly “ You’re gonna fail !” Loud enough for myself, and several other patrons to hear. The trainee, a shorter lady, with curly dark hair and glasses, had a defeated look on her face, and I could tell, it took everything she had to hold back tears. In my opinion, that is NO WAY to manage ! I later asked one of the cashiers who the lady in the flowery blouse was, and she said it was the store manager.
As someone who has been in the customer service industry for many years, I do know you build a good employee by encouragement , and being that helping hand for them. Not by forcing your employees to fear you, and by being just down right ugly to them.
I’m sending this letter just to inform you of a blemish in an otherwise wonderful store. I am also hoping that some retraining is in order, or at least some sort of reprimand to the store manager. With the level of attitude I witnessed, I’m sure this isn’t the first time this situation has come to light.

Chicken Review
My family and myself were in town to attend The Dogwood Festival last weekend so having booked an efficiency style room at a local hotel, we decided to pay a visit to the local Harris Teeter in Fayetteville,NC. to pick up some food for dinner that evening.
We purchased potato salad, rolls, beans and fried chicken at the deli. To say we regretted our decision to shop there is an understatement.
The chicken was among the worst we have tasted. It tasted like whoever was in charge of changing the oil in the machine wasn't doing their job.
If anyone has had the misfortune of experiencing that then you will know what I mean: Old, burnt oil flavor. Evidently when I tried to call to talk to a manager, was there anyone at the service desk because no one picked up after several rings.
Obviously we would not return to Harris Teeter if this is the way they choose to operate their stores.

Store #280 On Battleground and Horsepen Creek Road
Some the fruit and vegetables are not fresh. I noticed the organic Romaine lettuce is in small bunches, with brown marks on the stem and leaves.
It appears to have been cut with many leaves loose from the stem and secured in a bunch. (This brand of organic lettuce is sold in other stores around Greensboro intact, with a fresh color, no markings and in a much larger bunch.) I complained to the manager and he said he would look in the back for a fresh head of Romaine. A young man was sent to the back. I saw him take a bunch of lettuce *** off the bottom and remove several leaves.
When I asked the manager if this was common practice, he said yes. "That is the way it comes in so we always trim it." I have other incidences with rotting fruit and vegetable with an offer to trim the brown spots. This rotting lettuce is sold at full price and lacks the nutrients associated with fresh ones. This is clearly deceptive.
I and many of my friends follow a vegan diet.
We buy many of our vegetables in Harris Teeter.
I informed them of this practice. We will no longer shop at Harris Teeter.
- Nice employees
- An old perishable products in floral and produce for full price
Preferred solution: Only sell fresh produce. Throw out rotting vegetables rather than doctoring them up and selling them

Harris Teeter - American Express Gift Card Review from Cosby, Tennessee
Why put things on your shelves you can't sale? I went in to buy two giftcards (American Express) and after they rang the cards up and I handed them my cash they say my cards aren't valid.
I had to wait 20 minutes while they attempted to figure it out, they offered no other solutions, what a waste of my time.
Take the cards off thr shelf if you can't activate them....or offer a wider selection of giftcards to choose from, I work nights, now I get to waste my morning off trying to find other solutions to my situation. Thanks Harris Teeter, get on your game and learn how to run a business.

I will first start off by saying I love my job at Harris teeter. I love what I do and always will.
Yes, I am an employee right now with HT. I'm taking a very big chance by sharing something that most of you as consumers have no idea about. But since no one ever listens to the little busy bee workers I have no choice but to go public with this complaint. My job is very important, in fact every "big boss" I have admits "it's the most important job in the store.
So why are we always ignored and left out to hang ourselves "(so to speak)"???! I'm apart of the control department on the store level. Control is the pricing, changing of the ad you receive every Wednesday. We control what comes in the back room and out the front door.
Now there are a "vendor receiver" and a "scan person". I am the lateral of the two. We are both full time. Both of us are very dedicated workers.
We struggle every week in the scan area. I know several other scanners who struggle. Every week we have anywhere between 6000-1**** price changes. Now let me break this down for you to what the "price changes" are.
That's the actual number of tags, that you see as a consumer on our shelves at HT. So any given week we have an average of 8000 individual tags to 1) tear 2) seperate 3) organize and then on Wednesday put up. HT standards are 350 tags an hour. You do the math.
I as one person CANNOT PUT UP all those tags alone, do emails and a sign walk. A very good, HT STANDARDS sign walk takes 8-10 hours any given Wednesday. Are you starting to get my drift? There are not enough hours in a day to do all they require of us.
So we so have ONE back up. Most of the time they are very "green" or they are just a warm body thrown in the mix to shut us up! Still it's IMPOSSIBLE to do what HT requires, uphold customer service and contain and hold true our 100% scan guarantee. Most of us start our "ad day" on Tuesday night at 6/7pm.
Most of us do not leave until 2/3/4 pm on WEDNESDAY. Even then we're lucky if we get done. And God forbid if we leave after the 14th hour, we are the "talk" of the town for not working 20 hours....straight! Let me repeat our hours on Tuesday night/Wednesday....start time 6/7pm on Tuesday till 1/2/3 pm on Wednesday.
My consumer friends, that is torture on our bodies, minds and souls. We get the argument "you get the weekends off!" Really?! That's all you can say to us after we have fallen asleep on the way home after working 20-24 hours straight! And believe me WE DO NOT STOP.
We are there when the managers go home on Tuesday night, return on Wednesday after their good nights rest and we as scan girls are STILL THERE when that same manager leaves at 5pm Wednesday. And still we get NO SUPPORT! NO HELP! And we are expected to work 20 hours.
And if we don't and we have to finish our work on Thursdays then we are not worthy at all!! Dear HT: how are you going to feel when one of your scan coordinators is killed in a car crash after working 20 hours straight? What will you tell their children? "oh I'm sorry about the loss of your parent, but she had to get all 11,500 tags up before he/she could leave.
At least we won't be a week behind but I'm sorry your parent is dead from exhaustion. But hey they have the weekends off." Nothing makes me more mad is when you've got ten people standing around up front and still you're ignored and expected to work your 24 hour shift. HELLO BIG CORPORATE PEOPLE....it's groceries!!!! Get a grip and get your morals and priorities correct before you have to explain to a little boy why his mommy (your cherished scan analyst) is not coming home this Wednesday!
I will not stop till we're taken out of that horrible "I expect you to work 24 hours straight or else you're not worthy"! Next time you're in your HT find the person who is putting tags up and ask them what time they left on Wednesday and most importantly what time they came in on Tuesday!
Get your morales right HT or this will go public. Look y at your scan coordinators times,!dont be blind idiots or naive which ever you perfer!!

People who shop at Harris Teeter (and especially those that shop at Fresh Market) are generally not looking to buy clearance fruit!!! If you don't like the quality of the clearanced items, then don't buy them. If you cannot afford regularly priced fruit, you shouldn't be shopping at HT to begin with.
When did you get fired?
