Harris Teeter - Produce Review from Chicago, Illinois

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I realize that markdown produce won't win any prizes but when I visited the HT store in Fayetteville,NC but how can they put such disgusting things out and expect people to consume it? It honestly looked like someone had run over some of these items before putting them out for sale. The market that opened near Lowes, Fresh Market I think it is called,is beginning to look like a better alternative. Such a shame that I have to possibly stop shopping at HT because of bad produce. Even if it is clearance. Makes you wonder if the health inspector even comes through there.

People who shop at Harris Teeter (and especially those that shop at Fresh Market) are generally not looking to buy clearance fruit!!! If you don't like the quality of the clearanced items, then don't buy them. If you cannot afford regularly priced fruit, you shouldn't be shopping at HT to begin with.

Walking into the Harris Teeter store in Fayetteville,NC seemed to be a pleasant enough shopping experience to start off with : The store seemed clean but not set up to be efficient to maneuver around in. My wife and I enjoyed the floral design BUT the rest of the store was questionable.

I realize that clearance produce won't exactly win any prizes at the county fair but to put product out that has mold on it? Not good. Do the women in the deli wear acrylic nails? Perhaps I saw wrong and certainly hope I did.

And ALL the females hair should be secured under hair nets, regardless whether or not one has just had purchased hair or actually it's their own. I have doubts about this stores future longevity with poor hygiene standards as they seem.

To whom it may concern,

I currently live in Iowa, but I recently visited family in Virginia. More importantly, I had the pleasure of shopping at your store located in Manassas. I must say, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the store. Unfortunately, this is not a complimentary letter.

During my visit, about three weeks ago, I regrettably witnessed something I hadn’t seen since the fourth grade. After making my purchase, I decided to try my hand at the Virginia Lottery. As I was making my way to the machines, I noticed the machines being serviced by a manager, and what I think was a trainee. What happened next, I have to say, was the worst case of bullying and belittling ever. The manager was speaking so harshly, to the trainee, I felt so bad for her. The manager made comments like “ What are you doing ?” and “ Don’t you pay attention ?”. Finally nudging her way past her and saying “ You’re taking too long !” As they finished up and were walking away, the manager said loudly “ You’re gonna fail !” Loud enough for myself, and several other patrons to hear. The trainee, a shorter lady, with curly dark hair and glasses, had a defeated look on her face, and I could tell, it took everything she had to hold back tears. In my opinion, that is NO WAY to manage ! I later asked one of the cashiers who the lady in the flowery blouse was, and she said it was the store manager.

As someone who has been in the customer service industry for many years, I do know you build a good employee by encouragement , and being that helping hand for them. Not by forcing your employees to fear you, and by being just down right ugly to them.

I’m sending this letter just to inform you of a blemish in an otherwise wonderful store. I am also hoping that some retraining is in order, or at least some sort of reprimand to the store manager. With the level of attitude I witnessed, I’m sure this isn’t the first time this situation has come to light.

Fayetteville,NC store: Mark down produce with mold? Shameful. Restrooms:Atrocious. The store had a chemical smell to it? A food store that serves food as well should NOT smell of a chemical origin. Employees should tuck ALL of their hair under a hair net, even the front. Whether it is a weave or real hair. I don't want hair in my food. On second thought, I'll just go to Food Lion from now on.

Chicken Review

My family and myself were in town to attend The Dogwood Festival last weekend so having booked an efficiency style room at a local hotel, we decided to pay a visit to the local Harris Teeter in Fayetteville,NC. to pick up some food for dinner that evening.

We purchased potato salad, rolls, beans and fried chicken at the deli. To say we regretted our decision to shop there is an understatement.

The chicken was among the worst we have tasted. It tasted like whoever was in charge of changing the oil in the machine wasn't doing their job.

If anyone has had the misfortune of experiencing that then you will know what I mean: Old, burnt oil flavor. Evidently when I tried to call to talk to a manager, was there anyone at the service desk because no one picked up after several rings.

Obviously we would not return to Harris Teeter if this is the way they choose to operate their stores.

Harris Teeter - Deli Department Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My girlfriend and I just relocated to the area and we heard about the Fayetteville,NC Harris Teeter store. Since we were used to shopping at Whole Foods, we thought we would give it a try. We are sorry we did. Immediately we noticed a horrible chemical smell that shouldn't occur in a place that not only sells packaged food but fresh food. That aside,we walked over to the deli and noticed that not all the women had their hair securely tucked into their hair nets. A definite oversight by the management who obviously aren't as concerned with food sanitation as other establishments. We decided that this is not a grocery store that we would spend our money in and walked out.

Fayetteville, NC is a seedy, sleazy town to begin with. I am not surprised to hear of your less than stellar experience.

If you visit Harris Teeter locations in Raleigh and Cary, most are pretty nice, though they do have higher prices than say a Food Lion or Kroger.

My wife and I have been shopping at Harris Teeter in Fayetteville,NC since 2008. We always liked the store but lately things have changed for the worst. We ordered a deli platter and to our horror,we found a few long black hairs in it. Do the people that prepare these not wear hair nets? Needless to say,we won't be shopping there any more.

Store #280 On Battleground and Horsepen Creek Road

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Some the fruit and vegetables are not fresh. I noticed the organic Romaine lettuce is in small bunches, with brown marks on the stem and leaves.

It appears to have been cut with many leaves loose from the stem and secured in a bunch. (This brand of organic lettuce is sold in other stores around Greensboro intact, with a fresh color, no markings and in a much larger bunch.) I complained to the manager and he said he would look in the back for a fresh head of Romaine. A young man was sent to the back. I saw him take a bunch of lettuce *** off the bottom and remove several leaves.

When I asked the manager if this was common practice, he said yes. "That is the way it comes in so we always trim it." I have other incidences with rotting fruit and vegetable with an offer to trim the brown spots. This rotting lettuce is sold at full price and lacks the nutrients associated with fresh ones. This is clearly deceptive.

I and many of my friends follow a vegan diet.

We buy many of our vegetables in Harris Teeter.

I informed them of this practice. We will no longer shop at Harris Teeter.

I have been to other Harris Teeter stores and not ever had a problem until I visited my friends at university in Fayetteville,NC and went to the Harris Teeter store on Raeford Road. This store is abominable. The produce on clearance was moldy (So happy to see HT cares so much about food safety, ahem) and why doesn't the deli management have the women tuck ALL their hair under their hair nets? People that work with food should have sanitation first in mind. And the people slicing deli meat should also use the same sanitary process. I decided that I wasn't going to be spending my money in this store and walked out. Such a shame.

Harris Teeter - Pizza Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I ordered some pizza from the shop inside the Fayetteville,NC store. Do they even know how to make pizza ? The cheese was burnt and the pepperoni had a funny taste to it. When was the last time that area was inspected? Awful. Wouldn't ever order another one there if you paid me. Not to mention that when I relayed my complaints to the management,he (I believe his name was Derrick) gave me a phony sincere apology and offered a free one. Really? Now why on earth would I allow the same misfortune twice?

This deli is so messy. I never get a sub at this store because sub area is so so dirty. Seems the chefs can only do the bars but someone needs to walk through the deli hourly and supervise. Trash is always to the top ny sub station. I called health inspector once about this when I left and they said that management is in charge. Ask for them. Tell them the place is a dump. Busy store, messy always. I buy no deli items even though I love boars head. Tables, floors and slicers make this a no stop area.help...

Harris Teeter - American Express Gift Card Review from Cosby, Tennessee

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Why put things on your shelves you can't sale? I went in to buy two giftcards (American Express) and after they rang the cards up and I handed them my cash they say my cards aren't valid.

I had to wait 20 minutes while they attempted to figure it out, they offered no other solutions, what a waste of my time.

Take the cards off thr shelf if you can't activate them....or offer a wider selection of giftcards to choose from, I work nights, now I get to waste my morning off trying to find other solutions to my situation. Thanks Harris Teeter, get on your game and learn how to run a business.

$$$

I will first start off by saying I love my job at Harris teeter. I love what I do and always will.

Yes, I am an employee right now with HT. I'm taking a very big chance by sharing something that most of you as consumers have no idea about. But since no one ever listens to the little busy bee workers I have no choice but to go public with this complaint. My job is very important, in fact every "big boss" I have admits "it's the most important job in the store.

So why are we always ignored and left out to hang ourselves "(so to speak)"???! I'm apart of the control department on the store level. Control is the pricing, changing of the ad you receive every Wednesday. We control what comes in the back room and out the front door.

Now there are a "vendor receiver" and a "scan person". I am the lateral of the two. We are both full time. Both of us are very dedicated workers.

We struggle every week in the scan area. I know several other scanners who struggle. Every week we have anywhere between 6000-1**** price changes. Now let me break this down for you to what the "price changes" are.

That's the actual number of tags, that you see as a consumer on our shelves at HT. So any given week we have an average of 8000 individual tags to 1) tear 2) seperate 3) organize and then on Wednesday put up. HT standards are 350 tags an hour. You do the math.

I as one person CANNOT PUT UP all those tags alone, do emails and a sign walk. A very good, HT STANDARDS sign walk takes 8-10 hours any given Wednesday. Are you starting to get my drift? There are not enough hours in a day to do all they require of us.

So we so have ONE back up. Most of the time they are very "green" or they are just a warm body thrown in the mix to shut us up! Still it's IMPOSSIBLE to do what HT requires, uphold customer service and contain and hold true our 100% scan guarantee. Most of us start our "ad day" on Tuesday night at 6/7pm.

Most of us do not leave until 2/3/4 pm on WEDNESDAY. Even then we're lucky if we get done. And God forbid if we leave after the 14th hour, we are the "talk" of the town for not working 20 hours....straight! Let me repeat our hours on Tuesday night/Wednesday....start time 6/7pm on Tuesday till 1/2/3 pm on Wednesday.

My consumer friends, that is torture on our bodies, minds and souls. We get the argument "you get the weekends off!" Really?! That's all you can say to us after we have fallen asleep on the way home after working 20-24 hours straight! And believe me WE DO NOT STOP.

We are there when the managers go home on Tuesday night, return on Wednesday after their good nights rest and we as scan girls are STILL THERE when that same manager leaves at 5pm Wednesday. And still we get NO SUPPORT! NO HELP! And we are expected to work 20 hours.

And if we don't and we have to finish our work on Thursdays then we are not worthy at all!! Dear HT: how are you going to feel when one of your scan coordinators is killed in a car crash after working 20 hours straight? What will you tell their children? "oh I'm sorry about the loss of your parent, but she had to get all 11,500 tags up before he/she could leave.

At least we won't be a week behind but I'm sorry your parent is dead from exhaustion. But hey they have the weekends off." Nothing makes me more mad is when you've got ten people standing around up front and still you're ignored and expected to work your 24 hour shift. HELLO BIG CORPORATE PEOPLE....it's groceries!!!! Get a grip and get your morals and priorities correct before you have to explain to a little boy why his mommy (your cherished scan analyst) is not coming home this Wednesday!

I will not stop till we're taken out of that horrible "I expect you to work 24 hours straight or else you're not worthy"! Next time you're in your HT find the person who is putting tags up and ask them what time they left on Wednesday and most importantly what time they came in on Tuesday!

Get your morales right HT or this will go public. Look y at your scan coordinators times,!dont be blind idiots or naive which ever you perfer!!

Now I hope you know this story is not true. I LOL several times.....1st off a Scan Coordinator only gets 35-40 hours a week with no OT.

So if what you are saying is true, then you work 20 hrs in a day and then only have to work about two more days? Management wouldnt allow that 1st off, so please write out another story. 2nd thing is that tags come in every Sat/Sunday and they can be grouped etc. Other Departments now hang their own tags except for Grocery.

And just from knowing most of the Store Scan Coordinators most of them just like to gossip, talk, and complain. Do you know that there is no more price changes done overhead any more in the Stores?

That saves about two hrs right there. So from what I see you don't like your job but stay their because it is all a overweight woman your age can find....you probably have to smoke a cig every 15 min too and complain about that.

No more price changes overheads any more? What are you babbling about?

It takes an hour to change out those damned overheads...and it's still overnights you silly. Now put that pen down you Corp office hr lady and do some real work in the actual stores.

This is "noncaring"

Things have not changed and I'm taking this issue, lack of labor hours and terrible hiring status to the news stations by end of the week.

I'm thinking maybe even the union would love to hear all of this plus publixs.

Guest

SLICKBACK DUANE. I LIKE THAT NAME.

Of course we could always call him the invisible man since he's never seen or heard from as a support feature either.

Doesn' surprise me that the sc's are tricking the system now and store managers are lying about their support system. Here's a logical though: ask the coordinators what plan of actions are in place, not you sorry *** store magagers.

They know you're too lazy to follow thru with the scanners. So no worries and all is back to what it use2 b

Rose bouquets

My husband purchases a two bud vases rose bouquets for me and our daughter today in Tyson Corner HT store! One with one red rose was just ok and you could see on the bottom of the rose many old petals were pilled off and black edges still were there:{, another had one white and one red rose, white was so soft and very old and red was very soft and very old as well again with pilled old petals and ends of them were left with the black edges! SO disappointed and in that case it's a SHAME they are selling people OLDEST-OLD actually products as 3 roses for 35$!And do not call yourself best never!

How dare you! Going from $3.77 to $5.99 a pound in one day??? Shopping elsewhere you thieves! The family pack was a great product and it was sold at a reasonable price..although nowhere near costco by any means, it was more convenient then going there to pay $1-$2 per pound. But to go to $6 in one day! What is this all about? How do you rationalize such a crazy price increase. That's like paying nearly double the price which you can say gas is $2 today and $4 tomorrow? what??????
